hmmm…

If a religion that preaches peace brings about destruction and death, would a religion that preaches chaos bring about something new, say, perhaps, oh, I don’t know… peace?

Discordianism

Sigh… once again as a person of intelligence, comprehension, and open mindedness as well as proponent of truth I feel the need to argue and dis-spell ignorant, and biased statements as intentional misinterpretation and misconstrual to try and take pot shots at the “popular kids”. In this case Christianity as a whole. I do this purely out of the need to educate.

Oh yes, they are the “popular kids” because they are the world wide majority. Look it up. A third of the world believes in some form of the Christian faith. Over half of that is followers of Catholicism. The next highest ranking world religion is Islam. If you want to argue semantics we can add in Judaism being that both Christianity and Islam developed from Judaism. That makes up 54.22% of the world religions believing in what essentially equates to the same god. That’s 3.6 billion people. All of these hold a concept of Satan as well.

Now I can understand the Atheist/Agnostic group making jabs at the Christians. It’s like the not as popular kids heckling the more popular kids as a throwback to times for the need to strut and attempt to display power in order to vie for superiority. They (with the inclusion of people who don’t divulge their religion, and secular-humanists) make up 16% of the world population.

I’ve never met a Hindu group promoting anti-Christian propaganda. They may exist. They may not. They are eclectic esoteric kids in the school yard. Keeping to themselves like the original Goth kids, when Goth was cool but no one wanted to say so. Either way they make up 900 million people. Hypothetically if they were all in their country of origin that would mean 100 million of them aren’t Hindu. A majority of non-Hindu Indians (another assumption that all Hindus are Indian) are either Sikh (.36% of the world population) or Catholic.

I think you get the point. Elohim, Allah, God is a very very popular deity. Any “esoteric and arcane” religions who feel they have the right and need to make silly little points like this are out casts, making them prone to jealousy and petty attacks.

Hold your mouth. Yes these other religions all have their issues with people who heckle, pick on, misconstrue, and defame the lesser religions. They shouldn’t. The problem with popularity is a over inflated ego creating a bully complex. These little out bursts from you Krelborns, geeks, nerds, and whatever other high school outcast cliches only serves to fuel their fire. Don’t. They may never stop picking sure, but be the bigger person and have some composure and at the very least you’ll gain some respect.

Back to the argument. Yes, God has smote many a man, woman, and child. Those who were wicked in His eye were struck down, sometimes in genocidal mass. In his defense he has a need to keep the peace and is entitled to run his creation as he sees fit.

What you have to remember though is that’s all very much old testament. God had a change of heart. Hell he had a change of heart in the old testament too. The first is that He won’t kill everyone again, it was a bit overboard (yes that is a boat pun). The second is that He will be a kinder and gentler god and his days of being an all vengeance no party parallel of Zeus are behind him. There really is not much to argue for His side. Just because He is perceived as the embodiment of all that is good and right in the world doesn’t mean he can’t end you or anyone he sees fit. Good does not equal not killing people. That’s an infantile ideal. Grow up. Read up on history and realize that peace and harmony comes with a heavy price. As an example of this Vegetius said “Let he who desires peace prepare for war”.

Now Satan. Those who would use this as an argument are either intentionally misinterpreting his role in the balance of this little play, or they are really just that stupid and can’t comprehend his true purpose.

The Father of Lies, Little Horn, Angel of Light, Deceiver, Tempter, Thief. Satan may bring to mind thoughts of Tom Cruise facing a towering Tim Curry red an horned and brutish. Stories to frighten children. A monster for their closet. The truth is the way Satan operates in the bible is much more subtle. He’s sly, and deceptive. He likes to encourage people into defying God and resigning their lives to a evil and dark purpose. Why? Corrupt the soul and bind it to Hell. The man is recruiting. If he just went out and struck people down he would never get their soul. He’s competing with God for a head count. Plus the longer they live twisted and in his favour the more havoc they cause top side. It gives him a giggle. Why get your hands dirty when you can get someone else to do it for you? In short and the point Satan isn’t out to see people die, he’s out to see them suffer and to have them make others suffer. Break down their will and the will of others and the more likely they are to sell their soul to him to alleviate pain they are in which he more than likely had some hand in.

My next point is this. If you’re going to argue the validity of Christianity this argument is not it. This is more of an argument for becoming a Satanist. He must be a nice guy, he hasn’t killed nearly as many people as God. See what you’ve done here is admitted to the existence of the Christian God. Thus you have admitted to the validity of Christianity. Being that the only reason to argue the validity of one belief is to prove the validity of another you’ve also proven the invalidity of your own.

Don’t feel bad though, remember those popular kids in high school that used to pick on you all the time who you made passive aggressive jabs at under your breath? Most of the time they end up as lower middle class losers with a pretty dull life. The glitz and glamour fade. So stand tall, ignore the heckling, and don’t stoop to their level if your so sure you’re right. Eventually like any empire they’ll dissolve and something else will make the top. If you’re lucky it’s you, so do it with some decorum.

Until then, now that we’ve devolved back to the high school analogy and that I am operating on 6 hours of sleep for three days, Go fuck yourself. Shut the fuck up. Suck it up. If you don’t like it deal with it and don’t be a dick like they are. Sod off, jog on. For fuck sakes. Have some pride, and don’t be so fucking stupid. Think before you make a statement. Fuck sakes.

I really don’t have much to add to this argument because it is a great one. But I will expand on a couple of points. Basing any argument against the Christian God of the Bible in the old testament is an irrelevant one, because when Christ died on the cross, he made a new covenant with mankind. If you understand what the Trinity is, that means God made a new convenant with mankind. Because Christ is God. Second, I will pose this question to anybody who looks at this graph and supports it: Have you read the Bible? I don’t know where these numbers could possibly come from, assuming the person who calculated them had done the necessary research and had actually read the book. Before you go bashing something, make sure you READ THE FUCKING BOOK. There’s nothing more ignorant than bashing somebody’s belief system when you, in fact, know nothing about it. And based on the numbers on this graph, the person who made it is most likely making it out of their own personal bias, and doesn’t know the first thing about Christianity. Basically, the point that I wanted to make in this reply is before you say anything about Christianity, or anything you want to make an argument on, make sure you know the facts. Otherwise, STFU & GTFO.

Thanks Mason, you added some points I lost in the haze of my sleep deprived mind.
